St Lucian PM fires Foreign Affairs Minister and reshuffles Cabinet!

Monday, June 11, 2007

In news from St Lucia, the Prime Minister Sir John Compton has fired his Foreign Affairs Minister Rufus Bousquet while another senior minister Dr Keith Mondesir has been transferred from his portfolio as Head of National Security. The Governor General, Dame Pearlette Louisy, acting on behalf of the recuperating Prime Minister, made the announcement late last week. Under the new cabinet, Bousquets responsibility for External Affairs will now be filled by the Deputy Prime Minister Stephenson King who will also assume the responsibility for National Security, Home Affairs Labor, Information and Broadcasting, the latter to be managed by Minister the Honorable Tessa Mangal. This is the second time that Bousquet has been fired from a Cabinet led by Sir John. He was dismissed from his post as Minister of External affairs in the UWP Cabinet in 1995
