Members of the US based, Guyanese Charity Organization the Linden Fund are up in arms against the New York Times for an article which they say has done serious harm to their Organizations image. The article in question links Abdul Kadir, currently under investigation for suspicion of terrorism, to the charitable organization and identifies Kadir as a board member of the Linden Fund in charge of receiving and disbursing money and supplies sent to Guyana by the fund's supporters in the United States. According to the groups secretary Linda Felix, the statement is "erroneous and libelous" and has caused grave damage to the fund. Felix said that because of the ill researched article, they group anticipated that there would be a great reduction in donations made to the organization, which would severely impact its ability to provide basic necessities to the poor in Linden, Guyana. In the article, Kadir is reported to have entertained discussions with Russel De Freitas and Kareem Ibrahim as to whether any money for an attack could be concealed within an unspecified foundation in Linden Guyana.
