THE WEST Indian Tobacco Company (Witco) has announced that it has ceased production of its Mt Dor, du Maurier Lights and du Maurier Menthol brands of cigarettes, effective immediately. Jean-Pierre du Coudray managing director of the Tobacco Company said that the move was part of a strategic plan to build the companys portfolio. The Director said that currently Mt Dor only held about three per cent of the market share in the industry and customers of that product were already switching to Pall Mall cigarettes. Du Coudray pointed out that Witco was responsible for manufacturing cigarettes for the entire region and the stop in production of these three brands would help the company to be more productive and cost effective.
