Academics say Gay population coming out of the closet in Jamaica, seeking acceptance

Meanwhile, atleast one academic and a few psychologists in Jamaica have predicted a rise in the conflict between gays and non gays in Jamaica, with what they call, the coming out of many of that countrys practicing homosexuals. One psychologist, who chose to remain anonymous, said homosexuals were searching for acceptance, as evidenced by the case of the young male cross-dresser who was beaten in Falmouth, Trelawny on April 27 this year. Meanwhile Dr Orville Taylor, sociologist, says that because Jamaicans are so quick to copy US lifestyles, the culture will inevitably become accepted. He noted however that, Jamaica, at this time, is not ready to openly sanction homosexuality. If it comes to a confrontation, the gay community and the acceptance level is going to be set back decades because it is a battle that people who are on their side and in strategic positions are not willing to fight," he said.

I want to say shame on all those below me, FIRE what? all sinners will burn in the same fire homosexual or not. I have been reasoning with this for a long time and I have to come to the conclusion that hate in any form is a very ugly thing, hate against our brothers and sister is the SIN. Live Laugh Love....Its sick that anyone thinks that they should have the authority to take the life of another, leave judging to God. And if you all continue on the path your currently on you are just securing your own spot in hell. Hate breeds Hate man, its a wonder mi home land stand so.

What is going on here?
I am a God fearing christian myself and as a sinner like everyone else I am not gonna pretend like the other comments below mine that the life I live is perfect. It is sad to see people quote the same bible that teaches us to love our neighbours as ourselves and that he who is without sin throw the first stone. My bible never told me on any occasion that violence against anyone should be condoned. I disagree with the gay lifestyle the same way I disagree with adultery, premarital sex, murder and lies. All sin is created equal!!I am a 20 yr old Jamaican now living in America and now I can see how hypocritical Jamaicans are, so trigger happy when it comes to homosexuality yet murderers and rapist roam the streets daily. What should bring uprise on the island, should it be against homosexuals or murderers and criminals. I think the attention is focused on the homosexuals because realistically Jamaicans fear the latter, its not that easy to talk big to a person with a gun right?

I disagree with what the man said about Jamaica is followin the US. The Caribbean with all it's problems has always had higher Christian values than the united states and is one of the main reasons why homosexuality will NEVER be looked at as normal by it's peope. I don't think you have the right to beat or kill anyone, because the life they have was given to them by one Man. But, it shouldn't be promoted though, it is immoral and I refuse to raise children on an island that thinks sodomy is ok.
