In news from the Eastern Caribbean, LIAT is set to buy out the remaining assets of Caribbean Star Airlines. This news was recently announced by Barbados Tourism and International Transport Minister, Noel Lynch. We've come to the conclusion that rather than giving up the 35 percent share of ownership of the company, we will just pay .. for the rest of the assets. Lynch said. This latest decision comes on the heels of a call from St. Vincent Prime Minister, Ralph Gonsalves, for other regional governments to invest in the carrier. LIAT is currently co owned by three major shareholder Caribbean governments. According to reports, the governments have agreed to pay a whopping 5 million US dollars for the rest of the Caribbean Star Assets..
