St Lucia's new Prime Minister Stephenson King is rejecting calls for early general elections. The latest call for an early poll has come from the minority opposition Organization for National Empowerment, which wants the new administration to go to the polls within two years, to secure a fresh mandate since it appears that the UWP government got into power on the strength of the late Sir John Compton. The late Sir John who died earlier this month, led the UWP to victory in last December's general election but fell ill in May of this year.
