47 people have been confirmed dead so far in yet another blow to Haitis already struggling community. Flood waters released by a recent onslaught of rain have caused mudslides and widespread devastation in the village of Cabaret, 19 miles north of the capital Port au prince. Officials estimate that over 20,000 people may be left homeless by these floods. Residents of the Cabaret community have complained that even with the presence of UN peacekeepers in their country, there has been very little assistance offered to them in the wake of this disaster.
