Like many ghetto youth looking for a means of expression, Fragga Ranks, born Anthony Thomas, turned to music as a natural extension to his life. Hailing from Red Hills Road in Kingston, Jamaica, and blessed with a deep raspy, lyrical voice and a soulful exuberance, Fragga Ranks weaves his 30 years of experiences, relationships, life values, hardships and joys into hundreds of songs and rhythms. The underlying message is always one of positivity, hope and upliftment.
Life-long messenger of love, longing, struggle and celebration, Fragga Ranks, a foundation Dancehall DJ, is based in New York City. This proliﬁc artist has traveled a long road from obscurity to the top of the UK Reggae charts with his ﬁrst record Hug Me Up. His talents as a DJ along with his culturally oriented content has inﬂuenced the direction of Dancehall music. To date Fragga Ranks has collaborated with many artists; The Mighty Diamonds, Barrington Levy, Cynthia Schloss, Junior Reid, Pinchers, Freddie McGregor, Pam Hall and Kotch just to name a few.
Fragga Ranks debut CD, Loner, is comprised of a smattering of his collaborative work with various artists recorded during the 90s. This CD combines new releases (Loner, Cant Find a Good Man), with classic collaborations such as: Chalice in a Circle featuring The Mighty Diamonds, Why You Do It featuring Barrington Levy, Dis Mi Already with the legendary Cynthia Schloss and Babylon Fall featuring Dancehall veterans Junior Reid and Pinchers.
