PJ appeals for unity

Monday, January 23, 2006

PJ Patterson has announced February 25 as the date for the vote for Jamaican Prime Minister his successor as president of the ruling People's National Party and told the contenders for his job that they must campaign in a fashion that maintains the unity of the PNP.
In fact, with complaints going-to-and-fro between the campaigns for the four candidates - Portia Simpson Miller, Dr Peter Phillips, Dr Omar Davies, and Dr Karl Blythe - who have declared themselves in the race, Patterson insisted that they and their key handlers will have to sign a code of conduct holding them to decency and decorum.
Patterson became the leader of the PNP and prime minister of Jamaica in March 1992 on the retirement of the late Michael Manley, then beating the populist Simpson Miller for the party's top post.
The prime minister, whose self-effacing, low-keyed consensus-building style has been credited with lowering political divisions in Jamaica, led the PNP to three national electoral victories.
But he had announced after the last one in October 2002 that he would not lead the PNP in another general election.
Patterson, who turns 71 on April 10, used a special session of the PNP's National Executive Council at the Jamaica Conference Centre in downtown Kingston recently, to set out the first part of the timetable to elect a successor.

When you type Muzik Media.com it should reads "REJECTED". You think it's a joke; but it's a real "TURN OFF". Chris
I understand where you are coming from and I know your plight, however your recommendation to live at a YMCA or a Government Shelter would be a disaster. Most people who live at these places end up taking drugs, commiting some crime, it is not a place that I would recommend for anyone. For me it would be a disaster because I like my peace of mind to sleep at nights, I am a very private person. In terms of malnutrition; The World Health Organization gave Jamaica a good rating on that, so what is happening why so many people are starving it should not be. What about the International AID that Jamaica has been getting, where did it go? Jamaica got Millions +++ in AID more than any other country in the region apart from Haiti. Canada for example gave Many Millions of dollars for Hurricane relief. Chris we read everything, information is at our fingers tip. Peace my brother until next time.

Grow up Chris!
Chris, your comments are very offending to me and my Jamaican brothers and sisters. I have spent a lot of time in the ghetto, and just because I talk with a proper accent, does not mean that I am not black enough to know about the YMCA. I have gone there many times with my boyfriend and I am glad that these non-discriminatory places exist so that queers and carpet munchers like myself can hang out in harmony. You should try spending a day in my life, with all the ridicule I receive on a daily basis. Apparently walking down the street holding my boyfriends hand is "unacceptable" behaviour. If you could try and put yourself in my shoes for one day you would see that it is worse than any Jamaican slum!

I will come down and spend a Month to see the good life that you are living. Chris on a serous note , living abroad is not a bed of roses. Rent is very expensive , for example; a two bedrooms apartment is for $36,000.00 Jamaican dollars per Month. I will leave you to figure out the other expenses that you need to survive. We earn the money over here but it goes back in bills. Living together in groups would be an option to save or cut cost. Would you recommend this?

LIKEWISE LINCOLN *****
Back at you Lincoln. I don't like fooliness. If you're not promoting a positive vibes around me; then I'm sorry. I don't tolerate "CRAP". I have zero tolerance when it comes to adult acting a fool. How are the children of the future going to know right from wrong; if we as adults can't set a responsible, positive, example for them. We have failed our future generation. Maybe they will learn how to teach their next generation. This coming generation is already screwed up. Too much negativity is been exposed to them. They've learned nothing as far as being an adult; because we adults are still acting as "KIDS".

U MUST READ
This Jamaican woman felt that her love life was slipping because her husband had no more interest in sex. While shopping one day, she passed an adult shop and saw some crotchless panties, so she decided to buy one and try to use it to excite and seduce him.

That evening she took a long bath, put on a favorite perfume, and then she put on a sexy negligee and her new crotchless panties. Then she slithered into the room where her husband was watching TV as usual.

She stands right in front of him, with one foot resting high on the ottoman, negligee wide open, and whispers "yu wah some a dis?".

Her husband looks up at her wide-eyed and says. "No sah, yu mad, yuh nuh see wha it do to yu panty!"

Every body a Miss the Point of a Prime Minister
Pj is the One Who suggest that "More man have More Gal" as a result of his "POLICIES"

Mr Patterson has Lost the drive and stamina to bring in foreign investment and therefore he is suggesting a CSME(Carribbean Single Market).
Yet we have to be begging people to buy what left of our agriculture(sugar and Banana and othe crops) at high and premium prices.

What are we as jamaicans to do PJ? sell ourself as we have nothing else to do!

IT CAN BE DONE ! (TRUST ME)
Some countries are successful with having two political parties. It is not working in Jamaica. Why don't the two parties come as one . Forget about JLP or PNP; and just be OPP (ONE PEOPLE PARTY). Join together and try and correct the years worth of mistakes that were made. In every professions if you're going in for the money your work performance will always be negative. They should enter with their hearts. It can be done. ROOT OUT THE BAD WEEDS; and start over. Also treat the people with fairness and respect. You'd be surprise to see all dem "Hot Boys" and "Hot girls" chipping in to make Jamaica a better place. ( LETS SEPARATE FROM THE OTHER COUNTRIES STRATEGY AND DO OUR OWN THING)

MY OPINION
All I know is that for the past say 9-10 years the crime rate has climbed tremendously. Comparing to when I was living in Jamaica to me travelling back a lot of negative changes has made. What is the difference now than then. Many people who were suffering back then are still suffering yet they continued to take life one step at a time. The problem is the young adults. "THEY'RE TOO VIOLENT" and caught up in this "bling glamarous lifestyle" that they just gone wild.

we must not be so follow follow
yes certain political and economic sytems may work well for other countries such as the USA. however dont be so quick o denounce our sytems and jump to theirs. we as jamaicans seem to say everythin american is good. think first: a policy is made to suit a certain social and economic structure. ask yourself what would bebest for us and what fits best to our system. dont just say that a political sytem works for them, so it shall do th same for us. it is a worthy postulate however think of all the alternatives first and the interdependence of other aspects of our country on a change.

pj was good for us
constuction of highways, yes may have reduced commercial activity in old harbour but way more money is saved in the form of effeicent movement, between sattelite towns and the big job market in kingston, the bank failure in the mid 90's were due too poor management and corruption of its managers which led to low confidence in the banking system,. there was also a lack of a deposit insurance agency. pj did his best with the pnp and the private sector to correct these problems.
many of our prime ministers policys would have worked better if us as jamaicans werent so caught up in consumerism, spending more that what we earn while saving none. we put our selves in debt. however that is a problem of education. our own ignorance has allowed the drug trade to fuel this consumption, that resulted in and will continue to result in the slide of our dollar and greater debt. the pnp in my opinon isnt perfect, but i believe that they have every jamaicans interest at heart, all is required of us is our cooperation.
