This question is for everyone living in Trinidad right now. Im coming back home with one of my friends (i have family living in Trinidad), and my friend would like to stay in a Hotel in Trinidad because he doesnt "know my family". Most likley if we end up getting a hotel in Trinidad, it will be in Port of Spain because thats where most of the hotels are. My family lives in the South, so as you can imagine it would be hard to taxi it down there everyday, ontop of worrying about taxi driver's ripping you off. I'm trying to convince my friend otherwise, BUT my question is.. what is the crime situation like in POS realistically. I know theres alot of crime's and gang wars/ murders there, but how safe is it? We're planning to spend a week in July, and then a week in Tobago. 2 week in total. Someone please help!

Thaks for defining the word "Coolie "for me, if I came to Trinidad I probably would be misunderstood if I use the word "Coolie". In Jamaica it is not known as an insult. It means a goodlooking person with straight hair. Sambo also means the same thing too. Some Jamaican men would say! I find a goodlooking Coolie gal man, she is a sweet Sambo,. She is going to be my wife. We never knew it as an insult.
